Introduction:
In this report, I will outline the time planning process for a recent animation production. The project was divided into five main tasks: animation production, editing, sound design, compositing, and final reporting. The animation production task was further divided into three parts: youth, middle age, and old age, as the animation mainly focused on a boy's attitude in different stages of life. This report details the time allocation for each task, the balance between time and quality, and how the contingency plan was executed.
Time Planning:
I changed my habit of planning on a weekly basis to planning on a daily basis, as it allows me to make my plans more detailed. The animation production task was given the highest priority and ample time was allocated for it. The remaining tasks were planned in a way that would allow for overlapping of work, such as editing and sound design, to save time. The schedule was continuously monitored to ensure that the project was on track, and that any necessary adjustments were made promptly.
Balancing Time and Quality:
Given the limited time, compromises had to be made in terms of quality. While the animation production time was extended, the editing time was shortened, and the production of special effects was cancelled. The focus was put on the story's narrative rather than just creating high-quality visual effects, as this would better serve the animation's central theme.
Contingency Plan:
Learning from the previous semester's experience of a tight schedule, enough time was allotted for contingency planning. This ensured that the team was well-prepared for any unforeseen circumstances that may have arisen, such as significant changes in the plot or issues with music collaboration. As expected, the plot underwent several changes, and additional storylines were added to supplement the plot structure. Fortunately, the contingency plan allowed enough time for these modifications without putting the schedule in jeopardy.
Conclusion:
Through effective time planning, the animation production project proceeded smoothly, resulting in the desired outcome. While adjustments had to be made regarding time and quality, the central theme of the animation was successfully conveyed. The implementation of a contingency plan ensured that the project was completed on time despite unexpected challenges, highlighting the importance of proper planning and risk management.
